San Antonio, TX Position Summary This position analyzes, classifies, and reviews routine accounting transactions and interrelationships. Responsible for identifying issues and concerns within the scope and complexity of the job and may identify possible solutions. Request guidance when decisions are outside established parameters. Responsible for compliance with US GAAP and adherence with the control environment. This role will support the businesses of Harland Clarke Holdings. Key Duties / Responsibilities - Essential duties are identified by asterisks. General Accounting: Prepare and analyze account reconciliations as assigned. Responsible for identifying issues and concerns within the scope and complexity of the job and may identify possible solutions. Request guidance when decisions are outside established parameters. Adhere to established accounting procedures, policies and assigned tasks. 25% Month End Close: Prepare and provide adequate documentation for journal entries. Review account balance and activity to ensure completeness and accuracy for assigned accounts. Provide support to the Accounting team as required. 25% Financial Reporting & Analytics: Compile documentation for quarterly and annual reporting and disclosure requirements. Create schedules, research transactions, gather support material for both reporting and disclosure requirements. 15% Audit: Responsible for providing support for the internal and external audit requirements, as assigned. Ensure documentation is aligned with financial statement balances and demonstrates an appropriate audit trail. 15% Process Improvements and Procedures: Demonstrates a commitment to the process for continuous improvement and is open and responsive to change. Maintain desk top procedures and ensure business processes are in place to ensure we will meet or exceed our goals and key performance measures. 10% Special Projects: Participate and provide support to projects as assigned. 10% All employees are responsible for demonstrating the company's Core Values at all times and for using Performance Excellence principles to continuously improve effectiveness, efficiency, products, and services. All employees are responsible for supporting and complying with safety and security policies to promote a healthy working environment. Education & Knowledge Required A. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. B. Must have sufficient college course work in Accounting without a major in Accounting. C. SAP, Oracle & Hyperion Essbase experience a plus. Experience / Skills / Abilities Required A. Minimum four years of accounting experience. Any public accounting experience a plus. B. Must have good written and oral communication skills. C. Above average Excel skills preferred. D. Access and Hyperion Essbase skills are a plus, but not required. Supervisory Responsibility None. Communication & Contacts Required Strong oral & written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with accounting team and Accounting management on your accounts and work product. Some level of interaction with internal and external auditors. Decision Making No decision making responsibility, but required to identify to senior accounting team and Accounting management relevant alternatives to solve problems.
