Job Description Summary This position offers a great opportunity in the oil & gas exploration and production industry for a candidate that is a bright, hard-working, well-qualified self-starter who can function in an entrepreneurial environment. Reporting to the owner, the Controller will be responsible for all accounting activity at the company including, but not limited to, financial reporting, operational accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable, joint interest billings, severance tax reporting, payroll, and all financial and accounting regulatory requirements. This is currently the senior accounting role in the organization and requires a proactive hands-on candidate willing to tackle any and all relevant and appropriate tasks. Location : Northwest side of San Antonio, TX Key Duties and Responsibilities Produce monthly, quarterly, annual reporting and financial statement analysis to include profit & loss, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows for management and investors Establish cash management and budgeting processes Define and document procedures and processes, implement appropriate controls, and continually seek opportunities for process improvement Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable Manage joint interest billings Manage tax reporting compliance for Forms 1099 Manage payroll for small office and oversee 1 accounting staff and a few oilfield workers File appropriate reports with the Railroad Commission and Texas Comptroller including oil & gas production reports, P-5 organization reports and severance tax reports Education, Experience, and Skills Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a strong preference for candidates with a degree in Accounting 2 – 4+ years of experience supporting or acting as a corporate controller, in exploration and production preferred Experience in G/L, A/P, A/R, accrual, and cash based accounting Advanced experience with Wolfpack and Excel Experience with oil production and gas production Experience with severance tax issues Experience with joint interest billings Experience with lenders and loan covenant compliance helpful Experience reviewing lease agreements and division orders Experience with oilfield sales tax issues helpful Self-starter comfortable working and taking initiative in a small company environment Hands on work approach; ready to both prioritize and execute as well as learn new skills Strong communication skills Integrity, positive attitude, accountability and inquisitive Company Description Recruiter working on behalf of client in the oil & gas exploration and production industry.
