Job Description Experienced Controller needed for multi-provider medical group in San Antonio, Texas. Will be responsible for organizing and maintaining financial accounting systems, including accounts payable, general ledger, employee payroll, cash management, financial statements, and tax information. Will work closely with other members of management including the Practice Administrator, Department Supervisors, and the Revenue Cycle Manager. Duties will include, but not be limited to the following: Oversee payroll department, including department staff, prepare various payroll reports throughout the year, and required year-end reports. Work with payroll vendor on processes and reports. Oversee preparation of quarterly reports, W-2’s, and 1099’s. Prepare yearly Total Pay Statements for all physicians and staff. Work with outside CPA firm on tax returns and other reporting issues. Oversee accounts payable department, including department staff, and ensure department compliance with all rules and regulations. Work closely with Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure that billing and insurance information is accurately and timely reported on the books of the practice. Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, and presenting same to the shareholders. Reorganize and maintain financial information for all practice locations. Preparation of quarterly provider bonus productivity spreadsheet, and presenting same to shareholders. Preparation of various reports on request to analyze various aspects of the practice. Participation in annual cost and productivity surveys to ensure practice can benchmark itself with other practices. Communicate effectively and clearly with managers, physicians and staff. Delegate responsibility and authority to staff and work under multiple priorities. Prepare yearly budgets and cash flow projections, and five-year valuation budget. Work with the company financial information kept in QuickBooks. Oversee the books and financial statements for all related entities. Oversee the owned and rented properties of the practice, to ensure compliance with all the lease requirements. Work with the practice lending institutions to ensure compliance with their lending requirements. Formulate and oversee best accounting and internal control practices with respect to fraud mitigation. Requirements: Bachelor degree in finance/accounting. Master degree in finance preferred. CPA preferred. Minimum of three years of financial management experience including two years in a healthcare environment. Knowledge of finance and accounting functions, including budgeting, credit, investments, internal controls. Knowledge of computer systems, spreadsheet and financial systems programs and applications. Skilled in analyzing financial data and preparing related reports. Skilled in relating organizational objectives to financial policies on cost, fees, credit, etc. Skilled in exercising initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with physicians, medical staff, auditors and the public.
