Senior Accountant

Corporate Headquarters Financial Accounting

San Antonio, TX

Zachry Group is seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Accounting at the Corporate Headquarters located in San Antonio, TX. The successful candidate will provide assistance for the accounting department in managing the general ledger and financial statements of the Enterprise. The main focus of the candidate will be to provide quality and timely financial accounting and support services to all the family of Companies within the Enterprise. Close interface and effective communication with Enterprise personnel and management is essential. Strong accounting skills with a solid knowledge of US GAAP, management, communication, analytical and problem solving skills are critical to the financial accounting process. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for training, and skills development within the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assist in managing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes and requirements; internal and external

* Assist in managing financial accounting processes: draft and record journal entries, trial balance management, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation (including consolidations) and related protocols, foreign currency matters, ledger maintenance, fixed assets, accruals and prepaid balances, bank reconciliations, financial report analysis

* Work with operations department heads to ensure that all operational activity have appropriately been identified and reflected in financial statements.

* Manage the preparation of federal and state tax return support schedules: M 1's; apportionment factors

* Assist in completing required information for annual state license renewals and government surveys

* On occasion, assist with special projects in coordinating with management, performing accounting research, and creating/providing the required deliverables.

* Assist in training and developing staff. Identify training needs and curriculum deficiencies.

* Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

* Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the Accounting field

* Background in accounting with monthly close processes and consolidations

* Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)

* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office

* Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Values ethics, professionalism, and maintains confidentiality

* Must be willing to travel as required. Travel could be short term (less than a week), or long term (more than a month). Travel to jobsites will be necessary to obtain the business knowledge required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* CPA, including 5th year college or university

* Master's degree or equivalent

* Over 5 years' experience

* General knowledge of, or experience working in, the Industrial Construction industry

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, video chat and software systems. Position may include visits to construction sites and industrial facilities requiring mobility (on ground and at heights) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and work boots.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee will work in multiple environments including an office, warehouse and in a trailer or building on construction sites. On construction sites, noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
