Maintains and analyzes accounting information for management purposes including developing manual and automated accounting applications based on the need for financial management information.
Prepares monthly general ledger and standard journal entries, financial statements and comparative reports and account reconciliations
Maintains and reviews cost center and balance sheet accounts, including trial balances, to verify accuracy with coding, classifying and posting
Reviews information or data input into the general ledger from other departments to ensure reasonableness and accuracy (payroll, A/P, A/R, financial analysts, etc.)
Reviews work of clerical employees to ensure proper data entry and accounting procedures are maintained
Assists independent auditors with interim and year end audits
Maintains strictest confidentiality
Participates in professional development activities
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor s degree)
Knowledge of research techniques for analyzing data and presenting recommendations
Ability to perform mathematical computations, and compute ratios / percentages accurately and quickly
Ability to prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports
Accounting experience in a healthcare or health plan environment
