Position: Investment Operations Officer | Division: Bank Investments | Grade: E07 Work Days: Monday through Friday | Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Purpose of the Position: Assists with the management and documentation of the investment portfolio of approximately $1.5 Billion in assets invested across several different investment sectors. Responsible for the overall operations of the investment department functions. This includes the asset liability management process, public funds pledging, daily funds management, ALCO and Investment meeting reporting and the formal documentation of all the processes within the department. Serves as champion, administrator, and user support for the Management Planning and Control (MPC) budgeting system. Coordinates the bank s annual performance forecasting and assists lending, deposit and investment functions in forward growth projections. Represents the Bank Investment Department for the Process Improvement Initiative. Provides backup for the Funds Management/Investment Officer and Senior Investment Officer/Director of ALM. Provides analytical support for product pricing and promotional product profitability. Key Accountabilities: Assist in the management of the investment portfolio by: Documenting or reviewing security purchases/sales activity. Participating in the preparation of the monthly investment and asset/liability committee meeting reports and packets. Assisting in the reconciliation of investment portfolio holdings at the bank and/or holding company. Reviewing monthly portfolio general ledger and safekeeping reconciliations and quarterly investment portfolio call report data for accuracy. Responsible for the investment department operational functions by: Serving as a liaison for the bi-directional transfer of information and reports associated with the outsourced asset/liability simulation model. Documenting the assumptions used for the asset/liability model based upon a consensus of the bank management team, the asset/liability model outsourcer and the bank s board of directors. Completing the regulatory required annual back-testing of interest rate risk results versus actual results. Arranging for pledged collateral for public funds depositors including providing necessary depositor contracts, monitoring daily balances, releasing and replacing collateral as needed. Reviewing quarterly call report data submitted to Finance. Updating the call report excel workbook for any FFIEC revisions. Completing department reports included in the monthly ALCO and Investment meetings. Coordinating the information requested by internal and external auditors as well as the OCC. Ensuring the formal documentation of all processes completed by the Investment Department. Assist when needed with the bank s annual performance planning (i.e., budgeting) process by: Providing training for business unit managers new to the budget software. Preparing the MPC system for the annual budget process including creating new input screens or reports as needed. Creating an interest rate forecast for the budget as well as coordinating the appropriate loan and deposit pricing assumptions used by MPC. Estimating the impact of an assumed interest rate change on the yield of each forecasted loan category and cost center used to calculate interest income. Providing analytical assistance and support for business unit managers who are responsible for forecasting loans and/or deposits. Managing the forecasting process to assure complete and timely submission of inputs from contributing managers. Creating an overall balance sheet projection for the annual budget. Serving as enterprise-wide administrator for the bank s MPC system. Working with the Information Security Officer and I.T. personnel to set up and maintain security rights/roles for system users based on organizational hierarchy needs (i.e., determine the access rights that users will have in the system). Providing application and technical support for all end users. Serve as Process Improvement Champion for the Bank Investment Department by: Documenting current departmental processes. Recommending improvements to departmental processes. Documenting and reporting all process improvement projects. Participating in quarterly training and review meetings. Complete special analytical projects, as assigned by the Chief Investment Officer. Work Experience: 5+ years banking experience OR equivalent bank analyst experience required Investments experience; asset/liability management and simulation experience; funds management experience is preferred Education Requirements: Bachelor level Accounting, finance or economics degree is required MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus Other Qualifications: Personal Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet experience is required Fiserv ALM, DMS, FTP, MPC, Windows, Word, Excel, Smartview Essbase, Bloomberg, Federal Reserve System, FHLB Secure Connect System, Correspondent Bank Account Systems is a plus.
