Position Summary 13;
This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the students field of study and or/provide experience that is useful addition to the students education and meaningful preparation for future professional employment. Under immediate direction and under work guidance of Mentor, assist and supports departments in development of business projects.
The Safety Analytics team is looking for a Data Science Intern to join our team who will perform statistical data analysis, data mining, and optimizations using multiple tools and techniques to provide insights of safety data.
Tasks and Responsibilities 13;
High quality professional day:to:day execution of special projects
Assist in brainstorming and idea planning
Network:Meet a variety of people in your chosen profession through your internship, allowing you to form relationships you can build on in the future
Learn and master internal operations, including but not limited to accounting, event planning, finance, human resources, payroll, marketing, relationship building, customer service, sales, daily operations, etc
Identify areas for process improvement
Make recommendations to leadership for streamlining systems and processes
Research and implement solutions for enhanced efficiency
Ability to manage and organize multiple projects and meet deadlines
Support the team by developing innovative methods to find correlations between injuries, motor vehicle accidents, behaviors and environmental attributes
Develop predictive models that help achieve business targets using R, SAS, Python, or Java
Develop and implement new multivariate methodologies to solve practical business problems
Find patterns and insights in unstructured data
Employ advanced data modeling and forecasting techniques to explore strategic business opportunities and to prescribe actionable recommendations to leverage those opportunities.
Develop understanding of Safety Team and Operational team requirements from safety information in order to align modeling to provide actionable information.

Demonstrate an interest in seeking a degree applicable to the utility industry 13;
Have a grade average of B or higher 13;
Have an above average attendance record 13;
Must reside in CPS Energy service area 13;
Participate in full:time summer employment with CPS Energy after junior and senior years in high school for 8 weeks each summer. 13;
Preferred Qualifications 13;
College freshmen, sophomore, junior or senior
A minimum GPA of 3.0
