Rackspace is looking for Software Developers in Test (SDT) to join our Quality Engineering Organization. As a Senior SDT you will be given the responsibility of writing test automation for various products in our VMWare practice area. In this role you will write test code using Java, Python and our testing framework. Our Quality Engineering Organization brings engineering talent to the forefront and works closely with development to continuously deliver code to our customers that is reliable, scalable, and functional. We are looking for technical development engineers that have experience in testing and who will help us continue our mission of providing a high quality experience for our customers, while working in a collaborative, dynamic and fun environment.This position will report directly to VMware QE manager, and is based in San Antonio. Job Complexity:A: Designs and implements test frameworks and toolsA: Writes and executes automated test scripts using a pre:defined frameworkA: Writes positive and negative smoke and regression test scripts to test product functionality and integration with dependenciesA: Tests APIs, user interfaces, web services and/or web applicationsA: Writes performance, load, and stress testsA: Conducts code reviews of more junior SDTs testsA: Medium to high level of contribution to Openstack test suites, as applicableA: Provides input for solving problems and recommends or executes a well:defined remediation planA: Participates in design and architecture reviewsA: Collaborates with other quality and development engineers to build, evolve, and maintain a scalable continuous build and deployment pipelineA: Conducts technical phone screens for QE openings Required Experience/Skills: A: 5:8 years of development test automation experienceA: BS in Computer Science or technical related degree or equivalent experienceA: Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, and apply them accurately through an evolving, dynamic environmentA: Strong knowledge of web protocols, networking, and systemsA: Demonstrated working proficiency of one of the following languages: Python, Ruby, Java, or C++A: Experience with Linux, such as Red Hat or Ubuntu and/or WindowsA: Demonstrated working proficiency of Unix shell scriptingA: Strong understanding of XML, XSD, JSON, WSDL, and SOAPA: Demonstrated working proficiency with a UI automation tool such as Selenium, QTP, or SilkA: Demonstrated working proficiency of refactoring code and iterative developmentA: Strong knowledge of open source tools such as curl, JMeterA: Strong knowledge of continuous integration and delivery conceptsA: Working experience implementing test code within a continuous integration and delivery pipelineA: Demonstrated proficiency in creating technical documentationA: Strong knowledge of performance, load, and stress testingA: Experience working within an agile development process (Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc.) from the test design, test automation, and execution perspectiveA: Ability to analyze and translate requirements and development stories into test scriptsA: Excellent knowledge of QA processes and methodologiesA: Strong knowledge of Cloud computing conceptsA: Excellent knowledge of object oriented programmingA: Strong attention to detailA: Excellent written and verbal communication skillsA: Strong interpersonal skillsA: Excellent time management skills Desired Experience/Skills:A: Strong understanding of software/testing methodologies such as TDDA: Experience working in Cloud computingA: Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelineA: Strong knowledge of AnsibleA: Experience working with VMWare products LI:LM2
