Rackspace is looking for Software Developers in Test (Ruby) to join our Quality Engineering Organization. As a SDT you will be given the responsibility of writing test automation for our Business Automation team in our Global Enterprise Technologies product line. The Business Automation team provides a comprehensive process automation infrastructure, which is used by Rackers to automate business processes, thereby, freeing up our support Rackers to concentrate on higher value tasks. In this role, you will write test code Ruby. Remote applicants will be considered, but must have a demonstrated successful history of working remotely. Job Complexity:Designs and implements test frameworks and toolsWrites and executes automated test scripts using a pre:defined frameworkWrites positive and negative smoke and regression test scripts to test product functionality and integration with dependenciesTests APIs, user interfaces, web services and/or web applicationsWrites performance, load, and stress testsConducts code reviews of more junior SDTs testsProvides input for solving problems and recommends or executes a well:defined remediation planParticipates in design and architecture reviewsCollaborates with other quality and development engineers to build, evolve, and maintain a scalable continuous build and deployment pipelineConducts technical screens for QE openingsRequired Experience/Skills:5:8 years of development test automation experienceBachelors Degree is required. Preferred in Computer Science or technical related degreeDemonstrated working proficiency with RubyMust possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly, and apply them accurately through an evolving, dynamic environmentStrong knowledge of web protocols, networking, and systemsExperience with Linux, such as Red Hat or Ubuntu and/or WindowsDemonstrated working proficiency of Unix shell scriptingDemonstrated working proficiency with a UI automation tool such as Selenium, QTP, or SilkDemonstrated working proficiency of refactoring code and iterative developmentStrong knowledge of open source tools such as curl, JMeterStrong knowledge of continuous integration and delivery conceptsWorking experience implementing test code within a continuous integration and delivery pipelineDemonstrated proficiency in creating technical documentationStrong knowledge of performance, load, and stress testingExperience working within an agile development process (Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc.) from the test design, test automation, and execution perspectiveAbility to analyze and translate requirements and development stories into test scriptsExcellent knowledge of QA processes and methodologiesExcellent knowledge of object oriented programmingStrong attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsExcellent time management skills Desired Experience/Skills:Strong understanding of software/testing methodologies such as TDD and BDD
