COMPENSATION: Southwest Preparatory Board Approved Pay Schedule

REPORTS TO: Campus Principal


REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree from an accredited university; Masters Preferred;

Current Texas Education Certification in the subject area taught; 175 or 275 Marketing Certification.



The marketing teacher understands and applies knowledge of the foundations of business concepts related to marketing, economics, management, entrepreneurship, statistics, and international commerce.

The marketing teacher understands and applies knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, and strategies.

The marketing teacher will communicate the value of a free market versus other forms of economic philosophy.

The marketing teacher understands and applies knowledge of qualitative research and quantitative research in marketing.

The marketing teacher understands and applies knowledge of technology, the Internet, and e:commerce in relation to marketing.

The marketing teacher understands and applies knowledge of finance, accounting, and mathematics in marketing and entrepreneurship.

The marketing teacher understands and applies knowledge of interpersonal, leadership, and professional career development skills for marketing.

The marketing teacher knows how to advise and assist students in career planning and promote students development through work:based learning and participation in career and technical student organizations such as DECA.

The marketing teacher knows how to organize and manage an effective marketing education program and how to work with school, community, and industry representatives to support the program.

The marketing teacher knows how to plan, implement, and utilize instruction and student assessment, including academic integration.


Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. They enable students to develop competencies and skills to master the subject matter and pass all state required tests.



Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the districts syllabi.

Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles in accordance with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills as well as with best practices of teaching.

Present subject according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations.

Work cooperatively with administrators, superintendents and other staff as needed to meet curriculum objectives.

Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in the Individual Educational Plan.

Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.

Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.

Coordinate the implementation of labs into the curriculum.

Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required,

Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills.

Perform other duties as assigned.
