Joshua 24:20 If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

(If is a big word. When someone forsakes God or serves something other than the one true God, what will He do)?

Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

(He doesn't forsake those that seek Him. It is conditional). [Also see Proverbs 3:3, 4:2; Isaiah 1:28; Hebrews 13:5].

This is what God says about unbelievers, those who deny Him, haters of God, those that forget God, those that don't trust in God. Deuteronomy 7:10, 8:11, 19; Judges 10:13-14; Psalm 9:17; Isaiah 5:20-23 [woe unto you if you do this], Isaiah 45:9; Jeremiah 17:5; Hosea 4:6; John 3:18-19, 15:6; 2 Timothy 2:12 [deny Him and He denies you]; Revelation 21:8 [Unbelievers don't make it].

God's word is very plain concerning those that forsake, forget, hate, do not trust and believe in Him! Does the reason really matter? The result is the same, if one continues. A really bad decision to make. The following verses tell us about better decisions to make.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

(This is Jesus speaking here. Seek the kingdom of God, {first}! Don't forsake Him and His kingdom. Trust Him, obey Him, He will take care of you)!

Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

(Always obey God over man; never forsake Him and His commandments).

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Seek Him, never forsake Him! Where do you seek Him? In His word. Study His Word and you will avoid deception. Be good workers (doers) of the word, Romans 2:13 and James 1:22, lip service only, not recommended; one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the Word of God. Follow the subject and object when you dissect and teach the Word of God. Study to show thy self approved. Who approves you? See John 17:17, God's word is what?
