Job Description:/h3:
Under the supervision of the Operating Room Manager and at the direction of Registered Nurses, supports the care of surgical patients while in the operating room department. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: transporting of patients and equipment, assists with preparation of the operating room and properly cleaning of any area within the operating room department according to policy and procedures. Demonstrates good knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic technique, handling of specimens and biohazard material, and universal precautions.
May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 150:300 pounds with assistance. Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations, limited radiation, hazardous chemicals, or infectious diseases where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the job.
Qualifications: Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the US, high school diploma or equivalent required, Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred, with ability to achieve within 30 days of hire, 2:4 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred, ability to relate and work effectively with others, demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards, must be computer literate with basic fundamental computer skills that are required to perform essential job related duties.
