As an Information Security Data Scientist based in San Antonio, you will use data science to successfully mine, interpret and ultimately protect Capital Groups data. The Security Data scientist will be expected to uplift our current data science program by using skillsets such as mathematical modeling, machine learning and data manipulation to aid Capital Group in discovering anomalous activities and behaviors that span across IT infrastructure, user groups, and geographical locations. You will work alongside the rest of Capital Groups cybersecurity team in the purpose built cybersecurity command post: the Capital Group Security Intelligence Response Team (SIRT), who are based in San Antonio, TX. The SIRT preempt, detect and respond to cyber related security threats by seeking actionable intelligence in our internal and external environments.
:Develop the SIRTs understanding of normal and anomalous behavior in Capital Groups diverse event data sets, to lower risk to the Capital Group IT environment.
Drive the process of using data science to mine, interpret and ultimately protect Capital Groups data.
Design and develop systems to manage, query, process and interpret big data.
Devise algorithms to identify trends buried in big data.
Identify, prioritize and direct tool and process requirements.
Proactively identify, analyze and report on behavior and trends that could be indicative of risk.
Use real:time and historical data to solve real:world cyber security problems.
Choose and incorporate appropriate data mining and analysis techniques to solve specific problems.
Maintain cutting edge knowledge of data science techniques and practices.
Communicate trends, metrics and actionable recommendations in verbal briefs, dashboards and reports to a wide ranging IT and business audience.
:A degree level qualification Data Science or equivalent.
Proven track record or demonstrable agility in providing value gained through data science to a large organization and or complex datasets.
Excellent analytical skills.
Computer Science concentration or joint major at Bachelors or Masters degree level.
Experience in one or more of the following toolsets: Splunk, Matlab, Maple, SPSS/R, Hadoop, Mahout and Qlikview.
Ability to provide data analysis and visualization solutions using cutting edge tools, algorithms and languages like Python or Java.
